Varsity educates staff to avoid covid-19

    The Federal Ministry of Health confirmed the presence of coronavirus disease (Covid-19) in Lagos Nigeria on 27 February 2020. In view of this, the management of Kola Daisi University, Ibadan (KDU) gathered staff and students for a briefing on how to improve and maintain good health, prevent diseases and reduce the risk of corona virus outbreak in the country. In his opening remark, the KDU vice chancellor, Prof Kolade Ayorinde said series of health talks will be given to prevent Covid-19 which broke out in China in December 2019. Ayorinde said his team will impart health skills to staff and students alike to enable them make healthy choices throughout their lives.
    In his own remarks, the KDU director of health Services, Dr Jerry Ayejumon, reminded the congregation that those who become infected may experience only mild illness and recover quickly, but this can be more severe in others, particularly among the elderly with underlying chronic illnesses. Ayejumon enjoined staff and students to maintain hand washing with soap up to the elbow, maintaining respiratory hygiene to protect themselves and their own families. He urged them to follow precautions below.
      One: regularly and thoroughly was your hands with soap and water, and alcohol based hand sanitizers. Two, maintain at least five feet distance between yourself and anyone who is caughing and sneezing. Three: persons with persistent cough or sneezing should be kept at a distance. Do not mix with them. Four, you and people around you should maintain good respiratory hygiene by covering your mouth and nose with tissue when coughing or sneezing.
